And the state is seriously considering taking advantage of their situation.
Sen. George Bunting, Delaware state senator has proposed legalizing sports betting in the state.
According to the senator, he personally does not support gambling but his constituents have convinced him of the positive effects of sports betting in terms of revenues. The senator believes that it is ashamed to admit that the country will depend on gambling but no one cant discount the popularity of gambling and the revenues it generates.
The legislative body had passed the Professional and Amateur Sports Protection Act in 1992. The bill had banned the expansion and increase of sports betting in the US.
But there are four states that are not included in this act. Montana, Oregon, Nevada and Delaware are the four states that are exempted in the law because they are considering legalizing sports betting.
Due to present market value, Senator Bunting is not hopeful regarding the passing of his bill because the race tracks are also offering slot machines and the race track owners will surely not support the bill as they will consider it as another competition
